Kids, dogs, everyone’s welcome at this boho-chic conversion near Hay-on-Wye and Offa’s Dyke. With killer views onto the Black Mountains, this is a place for long walks, pub lunches and general rural immersion — there’s even a mud kitchen in the garden for little ones.

Sleeps up to 22. The Old Stables + Silbury Lofts, Wiltshire — four units sleeping 4-6 + two for 2, all clustered around a sociable courtyard.
We stayed here last week, and had the most gorgeous time. Beautiful accommodation, a cool outdoor area with firetpits, and idyllic walks from the front door, across farm fields, past ancient burial mounds, and to 15thC thatched pubs.

Two sun-splashed, unbelievably stylish studios for couples, in this arty Cornish town. Come by train from London and walk everywhere: to golden beaches, foodie restaurants and world-class galleries.
Camber Sands Escape.

This hugely stylish, contemporary rebuild sits just back from the sand dunes of vast Camber Sands. It’s a perfect 4-seasons destination — equally gorgeous for winter beach walks and to soak up the hazy warmth of spring and autumn — and with 3 bedrooms (2 kingsize, 1 full-sized bunk room) plus a separate snug and mezzanine with 2 single beds, there’s plenty of space for everyone. Sociable eating areas outside and in will make mealtimes a joy, and Rye and Dungeness are easy day trips.
