A superbly stylish cabin on the outskirts of Bath, with outdoor kitchen and wood-fired hot tub; sleeps 2-4
Space & setting.
Sizzle cheese toasties over the firepit, swing in the hammock in the afternoon sun and sink into the hot tub beneath a starlit sky. At this calming larchwood cabin set in a small patch of woodland in Batheaston, indoor and outdoor living blend so beautifully. The interior is intentionally simple and carefully considered: a double Murphy bed that can tuck away into the wall in the daytime, plus 2 singles on a mezzanine level, reached by a ladder and perfect for adventurous kids. Sage-green bedlinens, birch plywood walls and cosy cream rugs make it all feel spacious and serene; in the bathroom, retro-style tiles, waffle bathrobes and Aesop toiletries add a touch of luxe.
But this cabin also encourages outdoor living year-round, the alfresco kitchen complete with butler’s sink and reeded wine glasses. An organic vegetable patch gives you the chance to pluck seasonal veg to toss in your salad or grill on the firepit; various seating areas and an apple and olive tree add to the secret garden vibe. There’s also an outdoor rain shower and wood-fired hot tub, plus SUPs to hire; the river is an easy wander away for a paddleboard adventure. And if the weather turns or you’re not in the mood to cook, simply stroll to the brilliant local cafe (5 mins), or nip into Bath for a plethora of brilliant restaurants, shops, theatres and the thermae spa.
Getting here: train to Bath Spa then bus or taxi (20 mins)

Surrounds.
- Soak up the views with a walk to the top of Solsbury Hill, which is just behind the cabin, and inspired Peter Gabriel’s 1977 song of the same name.
- Slow the pace with a paddle along the River Avon – there are 2 SUPs that you can hire from the cabin.
- Breeze along the canal path to Bath on an electric bike, which you can rent from a shop on the local high street. Lock up your wheels and take a stroll around the Georgian architecture, indy shops, museums and beautiful parks.
- Owner Gaby is a real foodie: her suggestions include Castle Farm, Midford for the region’s best Sunday roast (they also do great curries on Fridays – book ahead for both).
- Take a dip in Cleveland Outdoor Pool, the UK’s oldest outdoor swimming pool which has just reopened following a much-anticipated restoration.
- Cycle to Bradford on Avon, stopping at barges selling cakes and pastries as you go. Stroll around the shops in Bradford then refuel for the ride back at the Bunch of Grapes or Timbrell’s Yard on the river.
- For something relaxing, Gaby, a Pilates instructor, offers 1-2-1 Pilates classes, as well as reflexology and tarot readings. She can also arrange for a masseuse to come to the cabin.
