*Brand new*
Proof that great things come in small packages, these off-grid cabins in North Wales are dwarfed by the vast Dee Valley that cradles them, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There’s a real sense of the owners’ reverence for the landscape throughout – not only is furniture beautifully hand-crafted from local oak but the cabins are designed to have as little impact as possible on their surroundings, with solar power, eco-friendly bath products, compost toilets and spring-fed water. Kingsized beds are tucked beneath huge windows that frame views of the dramatic valley, so that you can snooze under the stars and rise with the sky’s buzzards, red kites and barn owls.
The blonde and black interiors offer a touch of uncluttered Scandi style, but you’ll still find a few treats to inspire you to switch off digitally: a cosy log-burner, old-school cassettes (everything from ABBA and Nina Simone to Nineties hip-hop), board games, books, and – of course – high-quality coffee-making equipment for that essential morning cup. Outside, buttercups, orchids and knapweed carpet the valley, and you’re a short distance from some of the area’s loveliest walking trails, including one down into Llangollen. Come alone, bring your dog, bring your partner. Unplug.
