Space & setting.

Minutes from incredible beaches, this isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a living, breathing testament to the transformative magic of rewilding. The owners of this 24-acre site have spent the last decade cultivating a sanctuary for both wildlife and guests, and this thriving ecosystem now serves as a safe haven for species like hedgehogs, red kites, barn owls and herons. The sight of these magnificent creatures—so wild, yet so close—is something you’ll always remember.

Amongst it all, the A-frame cabins blend seamlessly into the landscape. With towering, floor-to-ceiling windows, each opens up to a dramatic view of the westerly sunsets over St Brides Bay. They’re not just eco-friendly either; they’ve been designed with meticulous attention to comfort and style. Think underfloor heating, wood-burning stoves, rainfall showers and vintage furnishings, all of which feels completely in tune with the rugged beauty of the location. This place is about slowing down and noticing that you feel peaceful again. Whether you’re soaking up the stars from your wood-fired hot tub or waking up to the first light of day, there’s a deep, quiet magic here that encourages you to be truly present.

Getting here: drive, or train to Johnston or Haverfordwest then taxi (10 mins)

The Cleaver family’s journey to create this sanctuary is just as unique as the retreat itself. With diverse backgrounds — Louise’s expertise in hospitality, Paul’s knowledge of arboriculture, and Josh’s experience in luxury yachts — they’ve combined their passions and skills to create something truly special. They didn’t just want to build accommodation; they wanted to create a space that felt like an extension of the land itself. Over the course of their rewilding efforts, they’ve hand-planted nearly 3,000 trees and are continually working to enhance wildflower and wetland habitats, ensuring that every decision they make has nature at its core.

My Kip favourites

They love
“There’s no noise here, other than that of the birds or the wind rustling in the trees. It’s truly about connection, with your partner, with yourself and with nature. Many of our guests come to explore Pembrokeshire but don’t actually want to leave the tranquility of our site.”

We love
The unique 7m high windows, and the lack of curtains, which means you fall asleep watching stars and wake up slowly as the day dawns. Bring eyemasks if this isn’t your thing!

You may not love
You’ll need a car to reach shops & pubs. Sorry, no pets (to safeguard the wildlife especially hedgehogs). Check ins Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun only. Adults only. The cabins are staggered for privacy but you’re not secluded.

  • "After a busy period of work, we decided to escape to here and wow, wow, wow! From the moment we arrived, we could feel ourselves relax completely. The cabin is simply amazing—designed beautifully and furnished to the highest standard. This isn’t your typical cabin; it’s clear they’ve been crafted with passion and exceptional attention to detail. We felt so at home that the only reason we left was to take a short walk to the hot tub. If you’re looking to unwind and get away from the everyday stresses, this is the perfect place. We honestly cannot speak highly enough of this place. It’s clear the owners have put their heart into creating what we believe is not only one of the nicest places to stay in Pembrokeshire but possibly in all of Wales. Highly recommended!’

Sustainability.

The whole site is a rewilding masterclass. The owners hand-planted nearly 3,000 trees, and are continually working to enhance wildflower and wetland habitats for the wildlife that live here. Their A-Frames are cloaked with solar panels and use a 100% green energy tariff.  There’s also a heat recovery system, which purifies the air from pollen humidity.

Surrounds.

  • Walk a stretch of Pembrokeshire coastal path, with stunning panoramas at every twist and turn. The Green Bridge of Wales to Saint Govan’s Chapel hike is particularly gorgeous.
  • Spend a day on wide, sandy Freshwater West beach (where Dobby was buried in Harry Potter). Or visit endless tiny beaches and hidden coves to find your own favourite.
  • Zip over to Skomer island for puffin season (May to July); bring binoculars.
  • Excellent pubs and restaurants are a short drive away, including The Griffin (award-winning seafood pub), and The Swan Inn in Little Haven for fireside drinks and tapas.
  • Learn to surf, or hire SUPs and glide along the coastline.
  • Take a boat trip to wildlife watch (gannet colonies, seals, dolphins and porpoises) or go diving; there are a couple of brilliant wreck dives and drift dives for those with a PADI, or you can do an introductory dive
  • The UK’s smallest city, St David’s, is just half an hour away, packed with art galleries, great eateries and little boutiques. Don’t miss Whitesands beach, too; one of the top surf spots in the UK.
  • Hire ebikes and zip up and down the picturesque Preseli mountains.

FAQs.

Though they love dogs ourselves, the owners keep this site totally pet free to allow the wildlife to thrive.

No it’s included, and you get 3 large tubs of logs per stay, which is more than enough for the log burner and to warm the hot tub.

Children or babies are not allowed –  they understand that some may find it challenging to leave their little ones behind, but Wilder Retreats want guests to enjoy a truly rejuvenating escape. Wilder Retreats is an adult-only retreat to provide a peaceful and relaxing environment for guests.
