Space & setting.

Alfresco aficionados will love the garden here, brilliantly designed as part of the living space. Its various nooks can be used all year round, whether luxuriating under bubbles in the alfresco tub, sluicing off beach sand under a hot shower, cooking up a feast in the outdoor kitchen or listening to early morning birdsong beneath the boughs of the apple tree. Smaller visitors will love racing around the lawn and getting their hands dirty in a mini mud kitchen. Inside, the 19thC double-fronted cottage is both cosy and exquisitely decorated — a sociable kitchen, double-aspect sitting room, and 3 lovely bedrooms decorated in chalky colours and natural textures. Every detail sings (it comes as no surprise that the owners are interior designers).

Just 15 minutes by car from Brancaster Beach (popular with kite surfers), this is the perfect launchpad for North Norfolk’s fashionable seaside towns and sandy beaches, but if you’d rather stay local there’s plenty on the doorstep. The picturesque village is just 2 minutes away on foot, and wildlife from the neighbouring Sandringham Estate can be glimpsed in the nearby fields — pheasants, hares, deer and owls.

Getting here: drive, or train to Kings Lyn and taxi (20 mins)

“Jason and I met through work, creating and delivering very high-end interior design projects for wealthy clients. Years later, we came on holiday with our young family to Norfolk and fell in love with the area. We found and renovated a house for ourselves, and relocated at the start of 2020 just as the world locked down! We then set about looking for the perfect rental project. This house was built in the mid 1880s as a workers cottage on the Sandringham estate. It was an epic restoration that took over a year.” Owner Jolene

  • "I just wanted to email to say a huge thank you for such a lovely stay at Bircham Cottage. The Cottage was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for all your attention to detail and making sure we had everything we needed right down to making a festive christmas table with serving platters and table linen! You have created a beautiful home from home and it was so clean, well thought through and amazingly presented. We also really enjoyed visiting Norfolk, and walking on the beaches nearby."

  • "A beautiful cottage in a lovely village. It is without doubt the best place we have ever stayed and we have stayed in many cottages. We look forward to returning."

Unfortunately this is not something we can accomodate.
