Mid-century modernist beach house in Margate, with sea views and a sauna (sleeps 6 + 4 kids)
Space & setting.
*Brand new*
A story of travel, dreams, and design, this mid-century bungalow in Margate’s Palm Bay whispers of coastal adventures. With sprawling open-plan spaces, 4 airy rooms, and a seamless flow to the garden and sea beyond, it is also a tribute to family living. Thoughtful extensions have created space for everyone – 3 plush bedrooms for grown-ups and a cosy bunk room that 4 kids will love — and every detail, from the sun-drenched lounge to the spa-like sauna, has been crafted for easy living by the sea, inspired by the family’s extensive travels around the world.
Step outside and you’ll find yourself on the edge of Margate’s vibrant seaside life—whether you’re taking a dip in Walpole Bay Tidal Pool, crabbing from the quayside, or simply enjoying the ocean views from the garden. Spend your days exploring the artistic heart of the town, strolling on the beach or hiking along the Viking coastal trail, then retreat for sunset views and drinks around the firepit: this really is a sea-kissed getaway.
Getting here: drive, or train to Margate then taxi (10 mins)
“We live and work between Amsterdam and the UK, and travel a lot as a family. At some point, we started taking notes on the positive and negative things that we would see at places we stayed and began dreaming about how we could bring all our learnings together and share it with others. We spent several years reimagining and extending this seaside bungalow, to suit modern multi generational family living. This is often our home but we regularly rent it out when we travel.”
They love
“The multiple master bedrooms, so all guests get the best room. You can choose between a super-spacious king with the best sea view, or the king with the sea view and spacious ensuite with double sinks and a walk in-shower, or the superking with ensuite wet room and sauna…”
We love
The hip design vibe throughout.

Strictly not a party house. Planting in the front garden is still being refined. A 3-night minimum stay over weekends. Additional £150 cleaning fee applies to all bookings.
Surrounds.
- Start your day with a dip in Walpole Bay tidal pool, just over the road, then warm up with a coffee from Forts and a sauna back at the house!
- Grab picnic supplies from The Grain Grocers and spend a day on Palm Bay beach, or walk the coastal path to Botany Bay, Kingsgate, Joss Bay or even Broadstairs and beyond.
- Meanwhile, Picnic (the bar) is great for an afternoon tipple: a bottle shop, bar and deli with craft beers.
- Kids will love a kitsch round of crazy golf at Flamingo Arcade followed by lunch at the toy-filled Little Fish café.
- You’re a mile from Margate Old Town and the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery. Polly recommends Sargasso for a sunset dinner.
- Check out the listings at Tom Thumb Theatre, a family-run indy arts hub that showcases emerging talent in theatre, music, film, poetry and cabaret.
- Have a night on the tiles: margaritas at Mariachi and tropical disco beats at Wildes.
- Reignite old rivalries with a knock-about on the local tennis courts followed by a bacon buttie at the Palm Bay Café.
- Pop to neighbouring Herne Bay to kit yourself with the perfect pair of jeans at the hands of the maestro in Denimhand or hunt for vintage treasures at Briggsy’s Emporium.
- Enjoy the freshest local seafood at Buoy and Oyster or the candyfloss-coloured Wheelers Oyster Bar in neighbouring Whitstable.
