Lovingly designed period home full of character, an easy stroll from Margate's shops and shores (sleeps 5)
Space & setting.
*Brand new*
Oh-so stylish, this 3-bedroom getaway is ideal for friends or families looking for a seaside stay on the Kent Coast. Set on a quiet street in trendy Cliftonville, its creation was a true labour of love for its owner, a costume designer who hand-sourced every beautiful detail. Antiques, upcycling… sustainability was hugely important to her vision, and she personally sewed all of the blinds, curtains and soft furnishings using offcuts of top-of-the-range fabrics found on eBay.
Sunlight floods through the house, illuminating rich mustard walls and the jewel tones of the emerald-green sofa and powder-pink chaise longue. Stunning-lime-green cabinetry and marble worktops make the well-stocked kitchen a delight to cook in, and French doors open onto a little grassy garden. Upstairs, 3 bedrooms (one queen, one king, one small double) combine beautiful headboards (handmade) with chic contemporary light fittings, bamboo-framed mirrors and rattan touches. And with Margate’s many independent shops, restaurants and bars on your doorstep — not to mention the tidal pool and beach – you’re perfectly positioned for whatever sort of holiday you’re after.

Sustainability.
Most of the furnishings are antiques, upcycled, or hand-sewn by the owner.
Surrounds.
- Head to Little Swift — a cute bar and deli — to pick up some natural wine and bite-sized provisions, then sit on the stairs to the beach watching the sun set.
- Dry robes at the ready, a trip to Margate isn’t complete without a dip in the Walpole tidal pool. Book yourself into Haeckels House for a sauna to warm up afterwards.
- Junk Delux is a real insider’s secret, a whimsical emporium hidden in The Old Ice Works. Specialising in furniture and lighting, it stocks items from the 1930s through to the 1980s.
- The seaside outpost of London hotspot Brawn, Sargasso offers counter dining, interesting wines and small plates of seasonal fare, nestled against the wall of Margate’s harbour.
- Stroll along the 6-mile coastal path to Broadstairs. Taking about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete, you’ll pass through Botany Bay and can stop for a dip at Kingsgate Beach followed by a drink at The Captain Didgy. You can easily train or taxi back again.
