Space & setting.
Tucked away on a farm in Northumberland’s Dark Sky Park, these handcrafted huts are wonderfully remote, set in individual fields with breathtaking views by day and star-filled skies by night. But it’s not just their setting that’s idyllic – the huts themselves are gorgeous. Handcrafted from reclaimed oak, there’s a double-decker for a couple and a double-hut for a family. Both are thoughtfully decked out, too: high-spec little kitchens, solar-powered showers, cosy woodburners and quirky touches galore.
You’ll arrive to a welcome hamper of local goodies but given the nearest town is 12 miles away, you might want to pre-order the delicious home-cooked meals on offer (we’d go Moroccan tagine and frangipane tart). Then, after days spent hiking in the Cheviot Hills, cycling the Pennine Way, or visiting vast beaches over on the coast, you can just slide one into the oven, pour yourselves a glass of wine and kick back in your outdoor tub. With nothing to disturb you but baas from the Valais Blacknose sheep, and cinematic views of the Milky Way above, life doesn’t get much better than this.
Getting here: it’s best to drive but you could train to Alnmouth then taxi (12 miles)

Surrounds.
- Walk straight out from your hut and up into the rounded Cheviot Hills with their brooding moorland and thick forests. The views are breathtaking.
- Day trip to Bamburgh for an enormous pristine beach backed by a castle. Have lunch at the Potted Lobster, known for its incredible halibut and mussels.
- Barter Books in Alnwick is one of the largest second-hand bookshops in Britain – with its roaring fire and delicious cakes, it’s ideal for rainy days.
- On sunny days, explore Alnwick Gardens with its vast ornamental cherry orchard (stunning in spring) and the world’s largest treehouse restaurant.
- Pack a picnic for a day’s hiking or biking; the Sandstone and Pennine Ways are just west of the farm, while the Pennine Cycleway runs right past the door.
- Sit around the firepit and stargaze: on a clear night, you’ll see millions of stars, the Milky Way, meteor showers and even the Andromeda Galaxy (2.5 million light years away).
