A first-floor apartment with views over Porthgwidden Beach, in the heart of buzzy St Ives
Space & setting.
This is possibly the most incredible apartment we’ve ever seen. It may be bijou, but it is absolutely gorgeous; the white and gold pallette splashed with sunlight. Set in the picturesque ‘Downalong’ area – the former fishermens’ area – it’s the upper apartment of a pair, with a breathtaking view from its balcony. And from the gorgeous zigzag sofa, a Norwegian 1960s original.
The owners spent months sourcing mid-century furniture and choosing quirky modern furnishings for their pair of romantic rentals. There are Ercolani pebble tables and a Haus Schmidt floor lamp; exposed whitewashed walls, herringbone flooring and tall palm plants are a super-chic backdrop. If St Ives itself wasn’t so beautiful you’d be tempted to just hole up and bask in the sheer style of your apartment. But take time to explore the town’s charming cobbled lanes, world-class galleries and golden beaches. Great restaurants are all around, and sunset on Porthmeor Beach are magical.
Getting here: drive (there’s a parking space), or train to St Ives direct from London Paddington then taxi (5 mins)
