Secluded cabin for peaceful family adventures, surrounded by the dramatic Clwydian Range (sleeps 2 + 2 kids)
Space & setting.
*Brand new*
In the rugged expanse of North Wales, this offers a simplistic, back-to-nature kind of escape. Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Clwydian Range — an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — though it’s less than an hour from Liverpool, it’s a world away from city living. It’s also very different than the usual family getaway; here the noise of everyday life fades into the backdrop, replaced by the soft rustle of trees and the quiet hum of the countryside. No TV, no WiFi, it’s blissfully offline; a place to walk in incredible landscapes, then hunker down with books, binoculars and board games.
Though it’s also off-grid, it’s far from roughing it. Lovely blonde and black interiors echo uncluttered Scandi style, and solar power means hot showers with eco-friendly bath products. A kingsized bed with Piglet-in-Bed linens is tucked beneath huge windows that frame dramatic views, while 2 children have cosy bunks. There are interesting books to flick through and you’ll love the nostalgia of an old-school tape player plus cassettes. This isn’t just a base; it’s a place to experience a quieter, slower rhythm of life that’s genuinely restorative — and isn’t that the point of a holiday?
Getting here: drive or train to Hawarden then taxi (20 mins)

It all started a few years ago. Harry and George had always had a keen interest in building and constructing things — initially, it was treehouses, speakers and furniture, then they built their first cabin on Harry’s family farm. For a small structure, it was a little more complex than you might think. With composting loos, solar power, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all integrated into a small space, the process threw up all sorts of challenges. Though it was stressful, they were delighted to create such a unique holiday experience with such a low carbon impact, and went on to create more. Their aim is to unlock amazing places for holiday makers all over the UK.

Stays are Fri-Mon, or Mon-Fri only (3/4 nights). No WiFi. The locations are truly off grid; the surrounding area can be muddy and hostile in the winter months.
Sustainability.
The cabin is built from sustainable materials, and is fully off-grid, with solar power, compost toilets, and spring-fed water.
Surrounds.
- Explore the paths around the highest point of the Clwydian Range, Moel Famau. Choose a challenging hike or gentler family-friendly route, and bring a camera for sweeping views across the Welsh countryside.
- Or follow the winding river through Loggerheads Country Park, before climbing up to dramatic panoramas of the Clwydian Range and the Dee Valley (an AONB).
- The Cherry Pie Inn is a cosy little pub 5 mins’ drive or a lovely 40-minute stroll from the cabin. There’s a traditional menu (including cherry pie, ofc) and the friendly service gets rave reviews. The Crown Inn (3 mins’ drive / 25 mins’ walk) is great for a drink; dog friendly, with a log burner.
- A 15-minute drive leads to Mold, a charming little town. There’s been a weekly market here since medieval times, but nowadays it runs twice a week; Wednesdays and Saturdays. With 70+ independent stalls lining the High Street and through to Daniel Owen Square, you’ll find delicious cheeses, meats, fresh fruit and veg and artisan stalls, and buying your groceries here is a great way to support local businesses.
- Mold is also home to the romantic Y Delyn Wine and Tapas Bar (ideal after a day’s adventures).
- For some sea air, we love Talacre Beach with its beautiful sand dunes, just a short 30-minute drive away (dog friendly).
