Space & setting.
*Brand new*
The wonderfully named Mumbles (a coastal neighbourhood to the cosmopolitan Welsh city of Swansea) is gateway to the glorious Gower Peninsula, a patchwork of salt marshes, shimmering sandy beaches, tiny chapels, dappled woodlands, and rugged headlands. That makes these serene apartments an unbeatable launchpad for both city visits and coastal adventures.
With incredible views over Mumbles Bay, the elegant townhouse in which they sit has had many incarnations since its bricks were first assembled in the 1800s. Its latest custodians have lovingly transformed it into 3 eco-friendly apartments with a Japandi aesthetic: neutral colours, tactile textures and the patina of natural stone connect the interiors to the surf-and-shore surroundings. Curl into an armchair with a book after a day’s walking, surfing, cycling and picnicking across the Gower, or watch kitesurfers or paddleboarders skating across the waves as the sun sets. Foodie options on the colourful pier make dinner times a breeze — everything from cosy cafes to fine dining — or cook up fresh fish pulled straight from the bay and stroll to Joe’s for gelato afterwards.
Getting here: drive, or train to Swansea then taxi (20 mins)
“Built in the early 1800s, when we purchased the property–once a dental practice, then a bed and breakfast–it was very dilapidated and in need of a lot of love and attention. We spent the last 3 years sustainably renovating every inch of the property to inject new life into it. We have tried to capture the essence of the sea, opting for light wood touches paired with natural stone features and lime plaster walls.” Owner, Sarah
She loves
“Curling up under a blanket looking out to the ever-changing colours of sea and sky.”
We love
The green ‘living wall’ to the back of the property.
You may not love
No lift. Plenty of free parking outside, but can be tricky in high season (holiday permits available to purchase). No pets in apartments 2 or 3.
Sustainability.
Gas-free. Infra-red radiant heating system runs on 100% renewable electricity. Eco-friendly “Faith In Nature” toiletries. Natural products feature in the design (natural oak, lime plaster walls and natural living green wall at the rear of the property).
Surrounds.
- Breakfast or brunch at Full of Graze, a few doors down.
- Walk out onto the clifftops and meander around to Langland Bay — even onto Caswell if you’re feeling energetic. The coastal panoramas are breathtaking and you may spot seals basking on the rocks in the sunshine. Sarah recommends the seafront terrace at Langland’s Brasserie for lunch en route.
- Take a surf lesson on the famous sweep of sand at Rhossili beach.
- Or spend a day on Three Cliffs Bay; regularly voted one of the best beaches in the world. Stroll along its golden sands, look for starfish in the rockpools, and bring sundowner drinks — the sunsets here are amazing.
- Kids will love the dolphin and seal-spotting boat trip along the coastline, or visiting Oystermouth Castle; a 12thC fortress, steeped in history.
- Feast on fresh fish at the Gower Seafood Hut, or book a fancy dinner at Beach House in Oxwich Bay. Cockles, laverbread and marsh lamb are local specialities so be sure to sample them if they’re on the menu.

Yes it’s very quiet at night. The pub itself is more of a calm food based establishment rather than a rowdy drinking pub!
