*Brand new*
Overlooking the lush Vale of Pickering and the southern slopes of the North York Moors, these adjoining 19thC barns have been sympathetically converted with original stone features, roof trusses and vaulted ceilings. The English Ash for the hand-crafted kitchens comes from a family saw mill, and beautiful locally-sourced details such as bespoke oak doors, grey flagstone-style floors and microcement walls pay tribute to the dramatic moors. In the olive-tree lined courtyard, find your hot tub beneath a hand-carved pergola and potter down the steps to your private fire-pit area plus a private garden – whether you book 1 barn or take over both with family or friends (sleeping 8 adults, 2 kids and 4 babies in total), there’s plenty of space for all.

Pull back the enormous sliding doors and reveal soft-focus interiors that focus on natural textures and tones, with antiques and rustic homewares. The stunning kitchens will excite even the most amateur cook, while the open-plan living areas allow for sociable times. Take that to the next level with the piles of board games, plus a badminton and boules set on fairweather days. And whilst you’re enjoying sundowners on the patio, look for barn owls hunting the fields: since renovating the farm, the owners have embarked on a rewilding project that’s expanded the natural habitat of thousands of species, including bats, badgers and buzzards. Binoculars await for close-ups.

Getting here: you’ll need to drive

“Rich grew up in this area, and we decided to move back to North Yorkshire in 2019 to raise our kids in the beautiful countryside. We fell in love with this farm (then derelict) due to its views, and have been restoring it ever since, making sure we’re sympathetic to its character and many original features. The barns have the best views on the estate, so when designing the space, it was important for us to centre everything around the stunning backdrop.”  Owners, Sophie and Rich

  • “We are very fortunate to be enjoying 3 nights here, and we are blessed with fabulous weather. The accommodation is absolutely fantastic and you can see all the hard work they have put in. Everything is first rate and the kids have never been out of the hot tub. The accommodation, views and hospitality from Rich has been first class. Highly recommend for a lovely peaceful break.”

  • North York Moors National Park is just 2 miles away, with trails through deep forest and dales, and across rugged moorland to the coast.
  • From Whitby, walk along the golden stretch to Sandsend Beach and time it with low tide for rockpooling.
  • Reward yourself with a slap-up lunch at The Fish Cottage: garlicky prawns, crab fritters, native oysters and fish tacos all score highly.
  • Head north to Runswick Bay, a former fishing village with a beautiful beach, paddleboards to hire and wild seals if you’re lucky.
  • Hire bikes to cycle through the Great Yorkshire Forest at Dalby.
  • Excellent restaurants are a short drive or taxi away. We’d recommend The Blacksmith Arms in Lastingham, and Michelin-starred The Star Inn in Harome. For the best cakes, head to Graze on the Green in Rosedale.
  • Dip your toes in the beck at Hutton Le Hole, a tiny village in the National Park, or immerse yourself in the waterfall at Mallyan Spout.

FAQs.

We can’t accommodate furry friends.

No, unfortunately not.

For the most part, no. However, we can offer a late checkout in our A-Frame Cabins on a Sunday only (So a Fri-Sun stay), at an additional cost of £20/hr.

Very little. Both have identical design, facilities and a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. As they both face south west, you can enjoy scenic sunsets whichever you choose.
